Allen b. 2/8/1852 d. 8/22/1915 and wife, Margaret Stockton Allen b.1848 GA d. 5/15/1876 Mary Jane Bishop b. 8/20/1861 d. 2/24/1950 m. A. A. Allen on September 5, 1889 and was step-mother to Gus' children by his previous marriages. A. A. Allen signed a note for his daughter to marry J. J. Bishop. Marriage License has her name as Miss Neeley Allen. In the 1900 census of DeKalb County, Alabama, Augustus is married to Mary J. age 38, and children are listed as John C., Melissa, Henry, Ollie, Minnie, Eulah and Silas. A. A. Allen, Mary Jane Allen, Sarah Allen, Silas Allen, Paul Allen and Julie Allen are buried with Gus and other family members at Fairview Methodist Church in DeKalb County, Alabama. This church is located East of Highway 75 on DeKalb County Road 843. See Bishop Kin Photos in my photo albums at Flickr. In the 1900 census, Mary Susan Allen b. 1883 d. 1958 was found living with J. J. Bishop and wife Emma Allen Bishop (her half sister). Mary Susan first married George Bishop brother of J. J. Bishop. Her second marriage was to James Reuben Couch. (Census information obtained from Jim Couch researcher of Couch family. James Reuben Couch's 2nd marriage was to Mary Susan Allen half-sister to Emma Cornelia Allen, see Couch Family . |

Coxes, Cobb Co., GA indicate he was born in 1848. "Gus" was the son of Susan Moss Allen b. 7 June 1827 in Ga. d. 2 Aug. 1900 and Ransom
Adkins Allen b. 22 Aug 1823 d. 6 July 1877. Both Susan and Ransom are buried in Mt. Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery, Cobb County, Georgia.
Ransom Allen was originally buried at Concord Cemetery, but was moved when some of his children help found the new church and cemetery.
